Vietnam War

The Case-Church Amendment passed by Congress in 1973 prohibited further U.S. military activity in Southeast Asia, thus ending direct U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War. All told, 58,159 American soldiers died during the fifteen year campaign. On this day in 1995, President Bill Clinton announced the formal normalization of diplomatic relations with Vietnam.
